Bio

Gabrielle Brayton is originally from Northern California and grew up loving reading, writing and sports. She attended San Francisco State University, where she earned her BA in English: Creative Writing. Gabrielle spent her first years after college teaching in public and private schools in the San Francisco Unified School District. In 2010, she earned her Certificate of Teaching English as a Second Language, which she used while living and teaching abroad in Santiago, Chile. In 2011, she followed her heart (and the sunshine) to Los Angeles. Here she began teaching ESL to adults who had newly immigrated to the United States. She loved this rewarding work but missed working with young people. In 2013 she answered a job posting for an Enrichment teacher at New Los Angeles Charter School. For the past 5 years, Mrs. Brayton (formerly Ms. Toft) has been a Humanities teacher at New LA. During this time she earned her Masters in Education from Alliant International University. In Fall 2018, Gabrielle Brayton took on her current role as Assistant Principal with a commitment to restorative justice, social emotional health and student activism. She hopes to attend the Principal Leadership Institute at UCLA in 2020. She is proud to be a New LA Dolphin!
